MARSHALL COMMUNICATIONS CORPORATION AND ADVANTECH SATELLITE NETWORKS, INC. FEATURE DIGITAL VIDEO BROADCAST, RETURN CHANNEL VIA SATELLITE (DVB-RCS) AT THE SATELLITE 2007 CONFERENCE
ASHBURN, VA. - February 2007 - Marshall Communications Corporation (MARSHALL) and Advantech Satellite Networks, Inc. will be featuring the latest in commercial satellite technology, Digital Video Broadcast, Return Channel via Satellite (DVB-RCS), by hosting live demonstrations over satellite from a DVB-RCS VSAT on display at the Satellite 2007 Conference, February 19-22, 2007 at the Washington Convention Center in Washington, DC to Advantech's operational DVB-RCS Hub in Canada; live applications, including VoIP, Videoconferencing and Wi-Fi access will be witnessed in booth #317 at the conferences.
MARSHALL, the leader in systems integration for satellite-based communications, offers the premiere in two-way, open standard broadband satellite networking solutions - DVB-RCS. Based on open standards technology, DVB-RCS offers the highest bandwidth efficiency in the satellite industry. Since DVB-RCS and DVB-S2 have been established as the protocol solutions for hub-spoke IP network topologies for DoD, MARSHALL has been on the forefront of deploying new standards-based technology in today's battlespace.
Advantech is a leading provider of broadband satellite communications ground terminal and hub solutions. Advantech's DVB-RCS & DVB-S2 product and technology solutions enable two-way broadband access for a wide range of networking applications. Advantech's DVB-RCS/S2 solutions are the only multiple-access satellite solutions capable of delivering data transfer rates of up to 80 Mbps for downloads and up to 8Mbps for uploads at each remote terminal, or enough bandwidth to support anything from a small business to an entire community from a single remote terminal.
President and Chief Executive Officer, Sonny Marshall of MARSHALL and Michael Pollack, Vice President, Government Sales at Advantech, will be speaking on Wednesday, February 21st at the Satellite 2007 Conference, at the conference session entitled "DVB-RCS: The Future of DoD SATCOM Communications."
Mr. Marshall's presentation will entail Marshall Communications' involvement with DVB-RCS hub implementation and integration, for the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) for U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) in providing two-way, high speed communications links for Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) operations in Iraq. Mr. Marshall adds, "key challenges in moving ahead for providing DVB-RCS solutions will be available funding, the impact of the WGS and the use of commercial satellites. DVB-RCS technology provides cost effective distribution and sharing of content by providing an "always-on" broadband connectivity for multiple end users. It provides the highest bandwidth efficiency in the satellite industry." Mr. Pollack will discuss the key benefits and advantages that proven DVB-RCS and DVB-S2 VSAT technology are enabling service providers, systems integrators, and end-users to implement today in their SatCom networks today. Mr. Pollack noted, "the Honorable John Grimes office had the vision for providing real interoperable SatCom communications for our warfighters last year as directed in the new DoD policy, and our leading-edge technology has been at the forefront in working with the Government to execute the policy directive. Our equipment is demonstrating that technology based on open standards can exceed the performance proprietary-based technology in this field, by providing bandwidth utilization that is twice as efficient as what has been deployed in many legacy networks today, saving the provider a great deal on the operations budget.
